Auditions for MassMu’s Dear Mother and All Play

Auditions for the Massillon Museum-sponsored rendition of Sandra Perlman’s full-length play, Dear Mother and All, will be held on Monday, August 7, from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m., at the Massillon Museum, 121 Lincoln Way East in downtown Massillon.

This play, last produced in Massillon in 1988, is the true story of a Massillon soldier in World War I. He and his family, through letter-writing, share the daily ups and downs of life during the “War to End All Wars.” The complete collection of correspondence is part of the Museum’s permanent collection. The 2017 production will complement the Museum’s Stark County in the Great War exhibition, which is on view now through Veterans Day weekend.

The cast is comprised of 10 males and 10 females, ages 16 and older. Rehearsals will begin in August at the Museum. The performance will be Sunday, November 12, at 2:00 p.m., at the Lincoln Theatre in downtown Massillon.

For more information, contact director Dave Harding at 330-837-1829 or email him at dave12148@sssnet.com.  “Please come, audition, and be part of this show,” Harding said. “We need local actors and actresses to bring this touching local story to life.”

Funding for the production—an effort to kick-start a community theatre initiative—is provided in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities; Exploring the Human Endeavor and is aligned with the 20/20 Massillon Vision plan, facilitated by ArtsinStark. The Massillon Museum receives operating support from the Ohio Arts Council and ArtsinStark.

The Massillon Museum is located at 121 Lincoln Way East (Ohio Route 172) in downtown Massillon. A visit to the Massillon Museum is always free. Free parking is available on adjacent streets and in nearby city lots.  For more information, call the Museum at 330-833-4061 or visit massillonmuseum.org.
